# OB-PIS-013 — Payee verification, PISP liability

> The payee name verification of the SEPA Regulation extends to all credit transfers, and when a verification failure comes from the PISP, the PISP compensates the payer's PSP, which refunds the payer first.

- Article: PSR 57 (See also PSR 50)
- Who is bound: PISP, ASPSP
- Who it is for: Compliance, Product
- Application: 27 months after entry into force (Article 112).
- Level 2: No EBA mandate covers this obligation.
- Origin: New, with no equivalent in PSD2 or in the 2018 RTS.

Provisional numbering of the April 2026 compromise (Council doc. 8221/26). The final numbering will be added when the Official Journal publishes the text, without changing the id.

## STET 1.6.3: To review

The payment resource carries no payee verification result, and STET 1.6.3 does not say who shows it to the payer in a PISP journey.
